Ways of including floating environments into Markdown
Use Case
An author wishes to include a floating environment into his blog post (e.g. an image or a table).
Possible Solutions
- Input the required HTML code directly in the Markdown
- Input the environment in Markdown syntax enhanced with styling hints for the CSS to render the resulting paragraph as a floating environment.
Solution Discussion
Variant 1 would be slightly easier to write CSS for and result in HTML that is semantically correct (provided the author uses the appropriate tags).
Variant 2 would require the CSS to be aware of specific classes of <p>
and format these paragraphs accordingly. While the resulting HTML would have a correct syntax, it would use the wrong semantics for displaying floating environments.
